ten weeks

Was this actually ten weeks ago?
It's so surreal. I can't believe it was ten weeks ago that dad dropped me off at the airport. We sipped our Starbucks (while dad complained about said Starbucks) and took selfies. I was pale, my hair was done, I was wearing glasses, a long sleeve shirt, and my nails were painted. All things that have changed in a mere ten weeks. I have gotten a tan (a rather good one I think, without looking like leather). I rarely do anything more than braid my unruly locks. Wearing contacts has become a daily routine so I can pop my sunglasses on without being blind. The only time I wore something long sleeve was in the office with the AC blasting, only to be stripped off as soon as I stepped outside. My nails have been colourless for the past 8 weeks or so, a true feat for those who know of my polish obsession (strangely, I haven't missed it and my nails are healthier, hooray!)

Tonight while I thought about everything that has changed while I've been here I decided to go back and read all my blog posts. There aren't many so it didn't take that long. Going back to those first posts when I was getting ready to leave and arriving in Barbados, it all seems so long ago but at the same time it feels like yesterday. I know that makes no sense. Anyways, it was nice to look back at everything I managed to accomplish while I was here. And I've been really happy to have a place to document my journey and share my photos.

But lately, I've been thinking about how many photos I've taken. I have a pretty large file on my external hard-drive. I got sad thinking about that file and its likely destiny of staying on my hard-drive for years to come, forgotten in all its beauty. The woes of the digital era. So I started looking into some book printing sites and I'm so excited to start the process of sorting through my favourites and laying out a book. But for now I'm just enjoying my lazy Saturday after a morning of surfing and an afternoon of aching (no one tells you how much you hurt after surfing!)

"and on wednesdays we wear pink"

I had just planned to have lunch with Rob on Wednesday but my supervisor convinced me to take the afternoon off!! So in true Mean Girls fashion (Rob's favourite movie, shhh) I pulled out my hot pink bikini top and decided to play hookie from work. After we ate and napped, we lathered up in sunscreen and hit the beach.

I managed to try four more drinks off the Tiki Bar menu. Hmmm I think that leaves me with about 40 more drinks to try. I was trying to go down the list alphabetically but it didn't quite work out that way. One of my favourites had a few kinds of rum, peach schnapps, peach juice and mint. Interesting combo!

Once the sun sunk behind the trees we decided to head back home to shower. At this point our lunch was in our toes so we headed to Bert's Bar (the Ottawa Senators' owners have a sports bar down here!) to grab some food and catch the game. I love going to Bert's because I know I can get a good caesar (even though they don't put any "snacks" in them). And lastly, here's a snapchat from Bert's, the only picture I took!

molly's adventure

I still have plenty of pictures and stories to share from visiting with mom BUT I think this is a worth while interruption.

My main girl, Molly, is moving to London, ENGLAND! Not London, Ontario. I had to clarify, because I would be excited if she moved to London, Ontario too, way closer to me! I am so proud of this girl, you have no idea. She gave up a job she loved to do something that she has always wanted to do. This is something totally outside of the box for Molly who is even more OCD than me! (hard to believe I know!) She's going to London to work at a pub and she's living in a cottage next door with some friends. It sounds like perfection to me. She has started a blog and I'm so excited to follow along on her adventure, and I thought you (whoever is reading this, that is) would want to follow her too!

Love you girl! I can't wait to hear all about your adventures. And hopefully I can come visit you soon so we can have some adventures together! xoxoxo
