I'm finding it a lot harder to leave my apartment than I thought it would be. It was a bit of a last minute decision to move out. It was really the practical thing to do. Paying rent in Barbados, paying rent in London and not having any income just didn't seem smart no matter how I tried to convince myself.
So here I am now, packing up boxes and waiting for people to snatch up all my collected treasures. I think that's why I am so sad. I spent last summer at flea markets and garage sales trying to find items I could revamp and make my own. Most of the furniture in my apartment was cheap but I put blood, sweat, and tears into every piece (Literally! Who knew upholstering a couch could be so dangerous!) But in the end, I know it's the right decision to move back in with my parents and try to get rid of as much as possible. This just means I get to start collecting again for my next place!

love long weekends
The long weekend couldn't have come at a better time. I seriously needed a break from school before the home stretch. My mom and I went shopping in the States on Friday and we had quite the haul! I really needed office clothes for Barbados but I also wanted some fun summer clothes. With a list in hand we hit the racks and I must say we got everything on my list (plus some!).
So what did I get? 4 tops for work (pictured below), 2 other summer-y tops, a patterned work dress, a pencil skirt, a maxi dress and skirt, a pair of shorts, a skort (yes a skort, I promise it's cute!), a couple camisoles and a cardigan! I also got some new workout gear and a bikini top (no shopping spree is complete without one bathing suit in my opinion).
Sunday Rob and I went for a pretty long bike ride. Hopefully we will have a few more chances to go in between finishing school and leaving for Barbados.
Overall, this weekend was full of great food, tonnes of chocolate and being lazy. My favourite kind of weekend! It even involved a little DIY (which I will hopefully share soon!)

Saturday my parents had Easter dinner at their house. We set up an Easter egg hunt for my cousin's two little girls, Annie and Ally, and they loved it! I can't get enough of those two!

the countdown is on
When I started my Masters program in September I knew there would be the option of doing an international internship over the summer. I flip-flopped a lot in deciding whether I wanted to go international or if I want to stay local. Initially, I was set on staying local. I have so much here, an apartment, a job, friends, my boyfriend and my family. In addition to that, the cost of an international internship was an overwhelming aspect!
After much discussion with Rob and my family I realized that an international internship would be a once in a life-time experience. So when the internship options were released, Barbados was on the top of my list!
Time is flying by and I can't believe that in just one month I will be on my way to the island for 10 weeks!!
